Wildcat Den State Park
A week ago (last Saturday) the temperature was forecast to reach the low 70s. We couldn't waste a November day like this inside, so, we invited our friends, the Sears, to join us in walking a trail at Wildcat Den State Park.
Just wanted to share some photos since I actually brought our regular camera with us!
At the start of our walk.
Daddy and M. (I love this photo...just wish my husband wouldn't have worn his hat!)
Best Friends! (I shrunk M's shirt. Made her wear it anyways.)
Exploring a bit with the Daddys. (Daddies?)
Checkin' out nature.
Family photo!
Ellie and me. Yeah...we're awesome.
Have a good weekend!

TWSS - Hair
After bath last night we were in M's room and I was attempting to comb M's hair while she was trying to comb mine.
Madison: Me comb Mama's hair.
Me: Okay.
Madison: Me comb...um...Ellie's hair. (Ellie is Sarah Grace's Mommy.)
Me: Silly girl. Ellie's not here. You'll have to ask her next time we see her.
Madison: (silence...I could tell she was thinking) Mama, where'd Sarah Grace's hair go?
Me: Oh, Sarah Grace has hair, honey. It's just shorter than your hair. Her hair is still growing.
Madison: Oh. Growing.

Discover The Dinosaurs
Last Sunday we ventured to the QCCA Expo Center to check out the Discover The Dinosaurs exhibit. I just wanted to share a few photos.
We caved and purchased $12 worth of tickets (after admission cost) for M to experience her FIRST face painting and she got to ride a dinosaur as well.
At least the coloring pages were free! LOL!
Madison really enjoyed seeing the 'dinos' (as she calls them). But, she was a bit too young to fully enjoy everything for the cost of admission and all the extra activities. I think we'll wait a few years before going back...but overall, we all enjoyed ourselves.

TWSS - Busy
Madison leads a very busy life.
She'll tell you herself.
Me: Madison, it's time to go inside for lunch. Come on. Let's go.
Madison: No, Mama. I'm busy.
Josh: Madison, can you come and give Daddy a hug?
Madison: No, Daddy. I'm busy.
It's her new favorite response when she doesn't want to do what you ask her to.
*Sigh.* She's already too busy for us. :) Silly girl.

Foto Friday - Quarters
Yesterday morning I found Miss Madison depositing 'stolen' quarters (what she calls all coins) from Daddy's night stand into her piggy bank!
Good thing he's already accepted that fact that his money is our money. :)

And So 'It' (Officially) Begins
What is 'it' you ask?
Potty training. (Stop reading now if you want. It's ok. I understand!)
Ugh. I'm excited and terrified all at the same time.
Yesterday two things happened that I'm still uncomfortable with.
1) We cancelled our subscription with Amazon for our diapers. As of today...no more diapers for M will magically appear at my doorstep every month or so.
2) We introduced our baby girl to her first pairs of 'undies.' (Yes, I call them undies. The word 'panties' has always bugged me.)
What we've done so far:
1) We've read a couple potty books on and off for the last few months. Potty and The Potty Book - For Girls. She really likes The Potty Book for Girls.
2) At night, after bath, she has 'diaper free time' in her room and we read books on her blankie. She's been successfully peeing her little potty most nights before bed for quite some time and hasn't had any accidents during this time. I'd say we started this, I don't know how long ago...a few months ago at least, when we started reading the books with her.
Our (I say our...when it's really my plan) plan moving forward:
1) 'Diaper Free' time anytime we are at home for a significant amount of time. I just want her to get used to using her potty during the day and more often than just at night before bed.
I tried it this morning after she woke up. I sat her on the potty right away and she went #1 (yay!). Then we ate breakfast (I put a towel in her high chair) and played. I made her sit on the potty several times throughout the morning and kept her potty out in the main living area when she could always see it. We were accident free from 8am until 9:30am.
2) We will still use diapers at night, for naps, and for outings for the time being.
I haven't thought too much yet about how and or when I'll actually start having her wear undies at home. For now, I want her to have no where (not even undies) to relieve herself except for her potty while at home.
Baby steps for now. Baby steps are better than no steps...right?!

Last Zoo Visit
...for the year that is.
Feeding the llama (with the glass eye).
Watching the wallaby. (Or as M calls them, "wawabee.")
Giraffes!
Carousel ride with Daddy.
LIONS! Her favorite!
A really big snake.
Bobcat.
Lookin' for the wolves.
Kind of a boring post. Oh well.
We headed to Niabi Zoo last Friday. It was free (and chilly)! And hardly anyone was there. But, it was still a fun way to start our Friday since Josh was taking a day off. A lot of the animals were actually out and about, and as usual, M had a fantastic time!
Just a few pictures from our day to share.
Petting the...I forget what it is. Some relative of the cow. I love this picture!

Run, Madison, Run!
Madison participated in the Fun Run again this year at Calvary United Methodist Church the last weekend in October. It's a family carnival event to raise money for their preschool.
She ran all by herself!!! She's in the middle of the picture...with the gray pants.
Grandma Tracy, Grandpa Dave, and Josh and I cheered her on!
Silent auction. Blurry...but she was trying to bid on that basket that was full of candy! LOL!!!
Daddy won her a new puppy dog in the silent auction.
SO SWEET!

Oh yeah.
Dear Self,
You own a super nice camera. Why don't you start using it instead of just your phone camera!!!
Sincerely,
Self

Just My Friend and Me
Can you believe that just 8 days ago (last Wednesday) it was like 80 degrees out?! Crazy Iowa weather!!! My friend Ellie and I decided we had to get out with our girls and enjoy the unseasonably warm day.
We started at Niabi Zoo. It was free admission!
We started on the train (Sarah Grace's favorite)!
Oooh a camel.
M fed the fish and ducks.
Checking out the wallabys (wallabies?).
They loved watching the lions!
Final picture...both were not happy that they were back in their strollers!
After lunch, we headed to a local park. The girls had more fun running around chasing us and each other!
"Can you believe our moms are taking our picture again?!"
Cheese!!! ("Now maybe we can get back to playin'!"
M and I are so glad we've become such great friends with Sarah Grace (M can finally say her whole name) and Ellie. In fact, if you ask M who her best friend is, she'll answer you, "Sarah Dace." Adorable!
