Baby Shower #2

Last Saturday, Tracy, Bev, and Erin hosted a second baby shower for us, and I couldn't have been more grateful! It was held at Tracy and Bev's church in Blue Grass. Here is a group picture of Great Grandma Bev, Grandma Tracy, Me, my cousin, Erin, and her daughter, Lydia.

Bev made these cute flower pot/hand print center pieces! The teeny-tiny hand in front is Ava's (our cousin's 1st baby)...the newest member to the family, born one week ago!

My Dad and Josh made an appearance at the end to help clean up and load up all the gifts...and of course eat some cake! My Dad had never seen a cake with a picture on it...he didn't realize the picture was edible and just part of the frosting! He thought we just laid a picture on the cake. Oh, Dad!

The cake was from Sam's. I LOVE their cakes...the frosting is amazing!

It was wonderful to see so many family members and friends, and their thoughtfulness and generosity overwhelmed me! Baby Smyser is SO lucky!

Baby Shower #1

Last weekend Baby Smyser and I were honored by a great group of friends at a Baby Shower brunch hosted by my awesome friends, Erin & Gina.

I really felt so special and thankful for all my friends who thought of us and were able to celebrate with me. The brunch was delicious! The games were both educational (I learned newborns are born with 300 bones!) and entertaining (everyone, including me, hopes Baby Smyser has Josh's patience!).

Here's a fun group picture (minus Lindsay...sorry!). I am SO thankful to have such a wonderful group of friends!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
*Baby Smyser is going to be the best dressed, cleanest, most comfortable, warmest baby ever!

Foto Friday - Why I Miss Costco

Call it pregnancy hormones, call it being a choco-holic, call it being ridiculous...but I swear a tear or two of happiness came to my eyes when these babies were delivered to my doorstep earlier this week!

These are my most favorite chocolate covered raisins...and they are only found at Costco...so I haven't had them in OVER 2 years! Thank you, Diana! :-)

Meg: "Thank you." (Maybe I need a new photographer...)

Dear Baby Smyser

Dear Baby Smyser,

So far, you and me have gotten along pretty well. It's been all rainbows and cupcakes really...and I'm thankful to say I've been feeling good and haven't experienced too many of those not so fun side effects of pregnancy that I've heard about...for that, I truly want to thank you.

However...I feel like these last two months may be a different story....and, I think your graciousness may be heading out the door. I just want to remind you (and mostly me) that I know everything will all be worth it in the end.

I couldn't be more thankful or honored to be your Mommy in just a couple months. So, if you hear me selfishly complaining too much these next few weeks about being uncomfortable or whatever else, just know I don't really mean it...just like I know you don't really mean to jam your feet into my ribs and bladder so hard it takes me breath away.

Love,
Mommy

P.S. Here we are out and about bidding jobs with Daddy!

Opposites Attract

Most of you know I despise spending money and shopping in general. I have gone this whole pregnancy without purchasing any clothing for Baby Smyser...until this last weekend when we traveled to Des Moines for some Memorial Day weekend fun with friends. I finally gave in and purchased a couple outfits for her.

It all started with a great lunch with our very good friend, Tara, at P.F. Chang's (SO good...I've been craving their crab wontons for forever!) in Des Moines. Baby Smyser received her first giraffe! (In case you didn't know, I used to collect giraffes!) Thanks, Tara!!!

After lunch, of course we had to check out Jordan Creek, and a cute little store called Crazy 8. Here is the first official outfit I bought for her. Yes, it's pink. And yes, even I couldn't resist!

On the way home, Josh decided we should stop at the outlet mall and check out Carter's. I held this up and said, "Josh, should we get this?" Josh responded, "Uh, yes...definitely."

Josh also picked out this outfit for Baby Smyser on his own. We were just wandering the store and he brought this to me and said he like it. What do you think? I'm not saying it's something I would have picked out...but, since Josh chose it, I decided to go with it. It's a onesie, and little skirt just goes over it. We have such opposite tastes for this little baby. I generally do not like the combo of brown and pink, and while the one flower is cute...the flowery skirt (what he liked best!) is a bit much for me. Oh well...I guess our opposite tastes are a good thing because if I don't particularly like something for Baby Smyser, I can almost guarantee Josh will love it! Ha! So, everyone wins in the end!

Who knows...maybe this will end up being her "going home" outfit?!
